If you were curious about your body, you may have even brought your legs up to your abdomen to complete your first <a href="http://growingtallerguide.com/index.php/270/how-to-get-taller-naturally-via-ab-exercises/">abdominal crunch</a>.</p>
<p>Another of the posture correction exercises you did as a child was getting on the circular “circus” that had bars on it to hold onto. You grabbed those bars and someone made the circus turn faster and faster.</p>
<p>You felt yourself being pulled by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centrifugal_force" target="_blank">centrifugal force</a> to the outside of the circus and let your body stretch outwards.</p>
<p>As a child, you couldn’t wait to get out of the house to run and play. Moving your body was great! It felt so good, and little did you know, but the more you moved, the more you developed coordination skills that you still have today.</p>
<h2>What Happened To The Posture Exercises You Did As A Child?</h2>
<p>As most people age, they become burdened with responsibilities. And the first thing to go is exercise and the great feelings that go along with exercise.</p>
<p>You may sit at your desk 8 hours a day for work, and not be able to take too many breaks due to your workload. And this desk sitting and resulting lack of exercise can rob you of your height.</p>
<h2>Damages Of Lack Of Exercise, Especially If You Have A Desk Job</h2>
<p>What lack of exercise does to the body is rob it of its vitality. Muscles become weak and smaller. Their muscle tone looks as if they never had any definition at all.</p>
<p>Some muscles become tight and are contracted while others become weaker and are lax. The imbalance starts to take a toll on the body.</p>
<p>The first month you may feel as if you are doing alright. However, each day you slump at your desk or bring your head forward to see the screen better, you are causing minute changes in the set point of your muscles, ligaments and tendons. You are readjusting them for <a href="http://growingtallerguide.com/index.php/564/poor-posture-what-to-do-and-where-to-start/">bad posture</a>.</p>
<h2>How Much Height Do You Lose?</h2>
<p>Slumping is a sure way to decrease your height. You’d probably need to be a mathematician to calculate how much height you would lose by slumping, but whatever the formula is, it’s guaranteed to add up fast.</p>
<p>Expect at least a half inch and in some cases, up to 2 inches!</p>
<p>A smartie would probably take your height when you sit in your desk chair with good posture. The second height would be taken when you sit in the same chair slumped and with your head forward.</p>
<p>Then subtract the second number from the first number and see how much height you would lose.</p>
<h2>Just Get Back To The Gym And Act Like A Child Again!</h2>
<p>Simply getting back to working out at the gym can make you feel like a child again. And there are plenty of posture exercises for women and men to do at the gym.</p>
<p>You won’t find the monkey bars inside the gym, but rather at the kids’ playground, but there are plenty of other types of exercises to get started on.</p>
<p>In this case, it doesn’t matter if you are male or female. Your bad posture at work means that you will need posture correction exercises for men or women, depending on your gender.</p>
<h2>Expand Your Chest Cavity With The Pec Fly Machine</h2>
<p>For example, there are exercise machines called pec fly’s that will increase the size of your pectoralis or chest muscles.</p>
<p>That’s good, but if you’ve been slumping at your desk and not working out for several months, you will need to open up your chest area first before you work on strengthening the chest muscles.</p>

<p>Gyms have a variety of exercise tools available now, more than ever. There are exercise balls, rubber bands, half dome balls, and sometimes even long dowels.</p>
<h2>Use The Big Exercise Balls</h2>
<p>When lack of exercise has caused you to slump at work, then you may want to sit on the floor with an exercise ball behind you. These exercise balls are the giant 3-foot tall balls.</p>
<p>Since your shoulders are slumping forward, you want to stretch out over the ball backwards to stretch your chest forward and your shoulders backwards. This is an <a href="http://growingtallerguide.com/index.php/264/how-to-become-taller-naturally-via-back-exercises/">exercise</a> that will feel good to your back when you start exercising again.</p>
<p>Hold the position for 20 to 30 seconds. And take some deep breaths while you hold the position to get your body used to breathing fully again.</p>

Simply hold the dowel with hands on it shoulder width as if you were going to press it up into the air. Then squeeze your shoulder blades together and twist gently from side to side.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p class="TableContents">Posture is one of the biggest influences on human height growth and back health. If you want to achieve your full height potential, it is important that you maintain good posture throughout all of your activity.</p>
<p class="TableContents">Making a conscious effort to stand up straight is, of course a good way to have good posture. However, performing regular posture improvement and height growth exercises will help your body have better posture naturally.</p>
<p class="TableContents">To help you better understand why posture plays such an important role in your height, you need to know a little bit about the structure of your spine.</p>
<p><img class="alignleft frame size-full wp-image-14" src="/wp-images/spine.jpg" alt="Spine - Height growth and posture" /></p>
<p class="TableContents">Your spine is naturally &#8220;S&#8221; shaped and when you are standing, a correctly aligned spine will appear as if a string is running straight through your body from the crown of your head, down the center of your torso, and into your heels.</p>
<p class="TableContents">This makes your body stand as tall as possible. When you have poor posture, a portion of your back is curved too much in one direction.</p>
<p class="TableContents">For example, people who tilt their pelvis too forward can develop a &#8220;swayback&#8221; that slumps their body. When your body slumps in this manner it puts stress on your back and wears down the discs in your spine, decreasing your height.</p>
<p class="TableContents">In fact, many people with poor posture are one to two inches shorter than their real height.</p>
<p class="TableContents">You should always try to maintain good posture in any position. If your back, neck, and other related muscles are not in shape then you will find that you have to make more of an effort to do so.  </p>
<p class="TableContents">However, if you strengthen these relevant muscles you will have a natural ability to resist the tendency to slump and fight the pressure put on your spine that causes you to become shorter.</p>
<p class="TableContents">In the following paragraphs, you can learn about three height growth exercises designed to help you improve your posture.</p>
<p class="TableContents"><strong>1)</strong> The first exercise is called <strong>Bowing Down to Yourself</strong>. It is one of simplest height growth exercises and you can do it almost anywhere. This move improves your posture, and also stretches out the muscles in your upper back.</p>
<p class="TableContents">Sit down into a chair and keep your back straight and head facing forward. Keep your feet flat on the floor. Slowly lower your chin to your chest and take three long breaths before raising your head back to the starting position. Repeat this movement as necessary.</p>
<p class="TableContents"><strong>2)</strong> The Bowing Down to Yourself exercise should be followed by the <strong>Ear to Shoulder</strong>. Like the previous exercise, this will help improve your posture and stretch your upper back muscles.</p>
<p class="TableContents">This movement especially stretches the muscles that run along the sides of your upper spine and neck which helps hold your neck and head in a position of good posture and increase height growth .</p>
<p class="TableContents">Sit in the same position as before, with your spine straight and feet flat on the ground. Take a deep breath and when you exhale roll your right ear towards your right shoulder.</p>
<p class="TableContents">Take another deep breath and as you exhale roll your chin to your chest. On the next deep breath, exhale and roll your left ear to your left shoulder. Finally, take another deep breath and exhale as you roll your chin back to your chest.</p>
<p class="TableContents">All of your movements should be steady and slow and you should inhale deeply. Repeat this set at least 3 more times.</p>
<p class="TableContents"><strong>3)</strong> As you perform the next exercise, called the <strong>Turkey Stretch</strong>, you will be able to feel the stretching and lengthening along the back of your neck. Because your neck is such an important factor in good posture, this exercise is great to increase height growth, and general fitness.</p>
<p class="TableContents">Once again, you should keep your spine straight and feet flat while you sit in a chair. Act as if there were a string pulling up the crown of your head to make you as tall as possible.</p>
<p class="TableContents">Focus your eyes on the area in front of your nose and raise your hand to your chin. Take a deep breath in, rest your hand on your chin and then begin to breathe out slowly.</p>
<p class="TableContents">As you exhale, lightly push your chin into your neck until you feel the stretching on the back of your neck. When you finish exhaling stop and then repeat the set, you should do this at least 3 more times. </p>
<p class="TableContents">These three posture exercises are a great start to improving your posture and your back&#8217;s overall fitness. <p class="TableContents">These lower back muscles are critical to good posture. It they are weak, and your abs are weak, you will have poor posture which can actually decrease your height. Also, strong lower back muscles help your spine stay flexible which is a key to growth.</p>
<p class="TableContents">Second, working out your abdominal muscles helps you shed extra weight in your abdomen that normally pulls on your back and increases poor posture.</p>

It is important that these exercises be incorporated into a larger abs program so that all of your abdominal muscles are strengthened. Remember, if you have strong abdominal muscles then you will also have a strong back.</p>
<p class="TableContents"><strong>Lower Ab Crunch -</strong> The Lower Ab Crunch focuses on your lower abdominal muscles. It also helps give you better posture in your lower back by strengthening those muscles.</p>

<p class="TableContents">This exercise is a great starting block for an abdominal exercise program aimed at getting taller. You can do this exercise on the floor or on a bench. Lie down flat on your back with your knees bent at a 45 degree angle.</p>
<p class="TableContents">Contract your lower abdominal muscles so that your knees are drawn to your chest in a controlled manner. Then, slowly bring your legs back down. Repeat this process for at least 15 times, making sure that you pull your legs with your lower abdominal muscles each time.</p>
<p class="TableContents">Make sure your hip flexor has no to minimal movement throughout the exercise.</p>
<p class="TableContents"><strong>Leg Raise -</strong> The Leg Raise or Hip Up is a great follow up to the Lower Ab Crunch as you do your get taller exercises. It will further strengthen your lower back as it tones the muscles in your abdomen.</p>

<p class="TableContents">Extend your legs up so that they are perpendicular to your body. Then raise your hips about 3 to 5 inches off the ground by pushing up with your lower abs. Your feet should always remain straight while you are lifting.</p>
<p class="TableContents">Gently lower your hips back to the starting position and then repeat at least 15 times.</p>
<p class="TableContents"><strong>Side Crunch -</strong> The Side Crunch should be the next step in your abs exercise program. There is probably no better exercise to workout the muscles along your rib cage and those at the sides of your abdomen.</p>

<p class="TableContents">If these muscles are toned, then the corresponding muscles in your back will also be toned. You can remain on the floor or bench that you used for the previous two exercises.</p>
<p class="TableContents">Lie on your side with your arms holding onto the bench or a heavy object behind you, bend your knees. In a very controlled manner, bring your knees to your chest and then lower them back to the starting position.</p>
<p class="TableContents">Rotate to your other side and then repeat the movement. You should repeat this at least 15 times per side. Remember to limit your movement so that your hip flexors remain still, to increase the resistance and toning on your abs.</p>

<p>These three exercises are a good start to a solid ab exercise program, but you will need to follow up these with exercises which target your upper abs.</p>
